Day 2. Margaret River

Awake to a full day of wine, food, caves and beautiful scenery. Start the day with a leisurely drive down to the small town of Augusta. Once there a visit to the Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse is a must, the view from the top of Australia’s tallest lighthouse is just breathtaking. The lighthouse also marks the meeting of the Indian and Southern Oceans. Adjacent to Augusta is the wondrous Jewel Cave, home to the frozen waterfall. Heading further along Caves Road, via the Boranup Forest, are another two unique caves, Lake & Mammoth Cave (please note that a basic level of fitness is required), both featuring some amazing crystal formations. Now for the region’s most well known attraction; wine!!  From famous estates such as Voyager Estate and Xanadu Wines, to smaller boutique wineries, the region can cater to all tastes. A meal at one of these wineries is essential, as the food is unbelievable. Spend the afternoon back in town, exploring the many boutique shops that showcase the work of the town’s thriving artisan community.

Day 3. Margaret River – Perth, drive time = 3 hours 30 minutes

Before setting off back to Perth, why not take in some more sightseeing around Yallingup. Take in the magnificent landscaped gardens around Caves House. From here you can take a scenic walk and witness the awesome surf of the nearby beach. Just outside Yallingup is Ngilgi Cave one of Western Australia’s oldest tourist attractions.
